"Snowfall" in San Marcos

I've lived in San Diego County for over 30 years (yes, I'm very blessed and I know it).  We've had a week of terrible weather (for us).  One winter storm after another.  Last night we had about 10 minutes of this rain-wrapped snow that looks and sounds like hail.  I got photos of it as it piled up in the yard.  Truly something I've never seen here before.  This stuff does not sound like snow falling.  It's like having your house pelted with gravel.  As you can see, it isn't that pretty.  Up at Mt. Palomar, 5500 ft. above sea level and about an hour from here, they had real snow and lots of it.
