Lake San Marcos Yacht Club Christmas Party

Friday evening, December 18th members of the Yacht Club gathered on the lake to parade in lighted boats.  Then we went to the Lakeside Pavilion to attend the annual Christmas Dinner/Dance.  Here are some pictures from the evening.
Pat and Don Kreutzberg, always winners in the boat decorating competition, came up with another terrific idea.

Our captain, Don pilots the boat down the lake.

Pat is dressed in her angel costume.

Terri and Tom on the way down to the Southshore Landing where all the boats convene to begin the parade.

Eli at the bar on the boat.

Don helps Pat get set up on the front of the boat before the parade.

Pat and the boat all lit up before we head up the lake.  Please note the generator (yellow and black box on front deck next to Pat).  That creates the electricity to power all those lights.  It is very noisy.

I have no idea how they created that cross but it was completely stable and upright throughout the entire trip.  The logistics of decorating these boats with the lights is complicated and tricky.  You never know if it's going to work until you get on board and get going.  You also never know if it's going to last during the whole parade. And it's all done by senior citizens (some are senior senior citizens)!!

The boat that won first prize (usually who has the most lights wins).  The picture is out of focus because it is impossible to be on a moving boat, in the semi darkness, and get a good photo of another lighted moving object.  It's title is "Santa's Workshop" and the crew, which you can't see, are dressed in red and green as Santa's elves.

Our boat with Angel Pat won second place.  That is "Baby Jesus" in the cradle next to Pat.  Actually it's an old Cabbage Patch doll.

Gene Williams and Joe Hajovsky with our Commodore, Mark Geneau, in his last event at the helm of this motley bunch.

Dave and Linda Rich are feeling jolly.

That's Carol Alexander in between Julia Anthony and Sylvia Sherwood.

Adorable Mary Kreis with Eli.

The Lazar's, Joe and Linda, with Theresa Reznik and Tony Giralamo (his birthday is December 25th).

Our table, decorated by Renate Engert and Pat.  Edgar wasn't feeling his usual peppy self that evening.  But we were glad he came along anyway.

Don Alexander and Eli share a Santa hat as Terri and Tom Strathairn laugh.

Line Dancing featuring Gerri Sweatt in the foreground with Ron Koning, Bruce Seiler and Stan Sweatt.

More line dancers.  That's Corine LaJoie in the cute red shoes.

Mark Geneau introduces the crew that works so hard to make all these crazy fun events possible.

On the Yacht Club Board of Directors, Ron and Jane Koning, Dottie Rangel, Steve and Carol Hoostal, John and Barb Lee, Dennis and Jeannine Wittmayer, John and Theresa Hawker (their boat won first prize) and the Commodorable, Fran Geneau.

More BOD members, Bruce Seiler, Bob Kreis, Evie and Gene Williams, Janet and Bob Warren, Mary Anne and Joe Hajovsky, Pat Kreutzberg, and Bill and Pat Hotz.

It was a fabulous party.  We didn't leave until after the decorations came down.
